Trip around Lake Molveno

A scenic and rejuvenating walk

Around Lake Molveno, a walk for everyone

Don’t be intimidated: all it takes is a bit of stamina to walk the entire loop around Lake Molveno. A beautiful, invigorating walk with plenty of views, forest trails and outdoor activities. Starting from Hotel Lido, you can circumnavigate the entire lake entirely on foot.

Itinerary

You walk along the entire grassy shore of the lake in the direction of the campsite, near which, having climbed a few steps, you continue on the path that leads to the Roman Bridge and the nearby Rio Ceda waterfall; from here, after a short but steep climb, you come to a crossroads: continuing straight and passing the artificial waterfall, you arrive at the southern end of Lake Molveno; keeping to the left, you take the path on the shore that, with a swinging gait, runs at the edge of the woods along the southeastern shore offering stupendous views of the lake.

In the locality of Lasta (km 23.2 of the state road) it is necessary to cross the road and the path continues above the state road arriving with slight ups and downs near the Hotel Molveno; here we follow the Re dei Belgians path that, in the middle of the forest, along the lake, arrives at the Bior Bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the lake shore to the bus yard in front of our hotel.

A nice invigorating walk that will certainly make you deserve a tasty snack at the hotel!

“Five Sails” Legambiente

Lake Molveno and its green beach in the shadow of the Brenta Dolomites have since 2010 been awarded “Five Sails” in Legambiente’s Blue Guide, the highest award given to the best Italian beaches, given to only 6 lakes in all of Italy (Molveno is the only one in Trentino).

With its significant surface area (4.4 km long and 1.5 km wide) and a maximum depth of 124 meters, it is the second inland lake in Trentino of natural origin and one of those with the bluest waters. Formed some 3,000 years ago by a grandiose landslide that slid down the mountainside, Lake Molveno appears as a jewel in the midst of the Brenta Dolomites; in fact, in the last century the writer Antonio Fogazzaro, who loved to stay in Molveno, had described the lake as a “precious pearl in a most precious casket,” to describe this limpid body of water in which the peaks of the Dolomites are reflected.
