The Walk to Molveno: Ciclamino Cottage, Molin dei Mori and Segheria Taialacqua

Depart directly from the Hotel Lido Molveno and follow a flat road surrounded by nature.
Starting from the square of the hotel Lido Molveno, a stone's throw from the lake, take the left up to the intersection. At this point, turn left along the pavement to the bend where Via Dolomiti begins, follow it through whilst enjoying a beautiful view of Lake Molveno and the plain below. After about 1 km, you’ll reach the Ciclamino hut, immersed in the woods and on the banks of the river, Rio Massò. To go down, pass behind the hut and follow the path on the other side of the valley, going down to the roadside shrine of San Antonio. Here, immediately below, turn left along the small canal called "Rio dei Molini" which after 5 minutes, leads to the ruins of the ancient water mill of the Donini Family (Mori).
As well as the old millstone, you can admire the River Massò which here flows wildly and the waterfalls which descend from the mountain creating an impressive panorama. Retracing your steps, continue your walk along the canal until you reach the ancient Venetian "Taialacqua" sawmill which is still operational. It was built in the 1500s by the inhabitants of the village of Molveno, requested by the parish priest of the time, Don Taialacqua, to improve the economic conditions of the local population. Later, others were built on Rio dei Molini, no longer present, and for this reason the entire valley is still called Val delle Seghe, Valley of the Saws. The sawmill was, and still is, operated by water. 6 to 10 mm thick tables called molvene were produced, very popular due to their thinness. A visitor centre has been set up outside the sawmill with detailed information on its operation. The whole walk takes about an hour and a half and can be done comfortably with children even in a push chair.
