A jewel of Trentino: Rango is a small town which preserves ancient traditions and architecture
During the Christmas season, Rango adopts an even more magical atmosphere thanks to the traditional Christmas markets in the ancient faces of the inhabitants' houses. Even in summer, it is undoubtedly one of the places to add to your bucket list!
Rango is a delightful village which rises on the Bleggio Superiore plain. It dominates the whole surrounding area from above and is situated behind Garda and at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites. It receives many visitors both in winter due to its Christmassy atmosphere and the proximity to the snow, but it is also popular in summer thanks to the nearby Lake Garda. The village is a small treasure trove of tranquillity and peace, carved into the rock, which suddenly opens up after having climbed the panoramic hairpin bends that lead from the valley up to the top.The village boasts a long history which can be seen in the walls of the ancient dwellings, in the arches, in the entrance halls and in the courtyards, which appear to be perfectly preserved, as if stopped in a time which now appears long, long ago. It is a paradise of small rural houses which speak of a past that saw the passage of pilgrims, shepherds, merchants and solitary travellers who stopped to rest and revive themselves. This role as a passing area for pilgrims and shepherds is testified by the structure and architecture, in fact the buildings are placed alongside one another and connected by tunnels, through which the travellers could pass without going out into the open air, thus avoiding the cold, rain or snow.
