San Romedio, one of the most fascinating sanctuaries in Europe
A little more than 15 kilometres from Lake Tovel, you can visit the Sanctuary of S. Romedio, undoubtedly one of the most characteristic, not only in Trentino but in Europe. It is a bold architectural complex made up of five small churches superimposed in height, built in different eras and connected by a steep staircase. From the fifteenth century, faithful pilgrims have followed one another carrying votive offerings, some prestigious and of great value, witnessing the affirmation of the Saint’s worship.
How to get there:
The Sanctuary is easily accessible by car or by shuttle bus from Sanzeno. For the more adventurous, you can choose a 45-minute walk on an lovely path carved into the rock which starts from the road in front of the Museo Retico di Sanzeno, (Sanzeno’s Rhaetic museum)
